JoshuaOneNine
An unfinished corner office space on the top floor was a blank canvas for the next chapter in their growing business. With a desire to preserve the height of the 13 foot ceilings and the natural light from the 12 windows, they wanted an inspiring space for their marketing agency employees, the ability to entertain clients, incorporate key brand elements, and allow for sound and light control for their video and audio recording studio.

Sound
JoshuaOneNine wanted an open floor plan to take advantage of the high ceilings and natural light, but needed to control the sound for a video studio and vocal booth. Custom cut tectum ceiling panels preserved the height and created design interest while absorbing sound across the entire space. Staggered metal studs, angled glass, and additional layering around the openings in the vocal booth reduced potential rattling from soundwaves. And a quieter mini-split HVAC solution with a special fan was chosen to reduce white noise.
Light
With 12 total windows marking the west and north facing walls, JoshuaOneNine wanted to maximize the natural light and minimize walls, while still having designated spaces for various activities. The lighting solution was a series of thin-profile linear LED lights suspended between the tectum panels, as well as a flexible LED tape light wrapped around the perimeter of the circular ceiling clouds.
Storage
With both video and vocal studios, storage was needed for equipment but the square footage of the space was limited. Creating storage that went up instead of out maximized JoshuaOneNine's use of the tall space without compromising needed floorspace for employees and guests. An additional space was created above the vocal booth as well, creating a mirrored look to the two spaces that was both visually appealing and functional.
Every meeting with Scharnett was filled with energy. They brought their entire selves to every meeting, passionate about our project as if it were their own business. Always armed with paper and pencils to draw out thoughts and ideas as we spoke together, this was clearly a creative process, not a bunch of copy/paste cookie cutter solutions used with others. There are unique features in our ceiling, our floors and our entry way that we would have never considered, which transformed our office and showcased our brand in bold interesting ways.
